Important question/request:
If you have problems with a download…if you get the little note to check your email and that email never comes through… If you’ve checked your spam filters and put authors@closed-circle.net in your allowed list, and done all the sensible things and still haven’t gotten the email…please, please, please contact us at authors@closed-circle.net. If there’s a bug in the system, it’s a lot easier to find with multiple examples than just one isolated case. Thanks for your help!
Our shopping cart plugin requires that you fill out this form to trigger the free download. Why? For one thing, it uses your e-mail addy to send you a live link to your file. For the rest, who knows?
But don’t worry. Your information’s safe with us. We’re too disorganized to figure out what to do with it anyway.
FROM C.J. Cherryh : Sword and Sorcery Project: GOLD IN ARDERIN
PICTURE unrelated to STORY: I BORROWED IT FROM JANE.
This is a .pdf-only download of Gold in Arderin [working title]—a sword and sorcery story that doesn’t know whether it’s a short story, a novelette, a novella, or a novel. I don’t even promise I’ll ever finish it. But here is a work in progress strictly for fun—and you can comment on it, dice it, suggest, debate, and I’ll listen. To support the writer at work—feel free to donate, over there in the box. Remember Paypal takes 33 cents a transaction no matter the size, so dollar downloads get kind of chewed up: but once I get enough donations to make me feel guilty [or when I get my next inspiration from all the witty discussion on Wave Without a Shore] I’ll write more. If the story reaches final form, it will come out as a regular Closed Circle e-book in all usual formats, and those of you whose donations have by then amounted to the cost of a new e-book will automatically (so I plan) get the download in its polished form, with some sort of cover, even. Meanwhile you’ll have the fun of commenting. And I’m assuming everybody can handle a .pdf.
This is an experiment. The object is to have fun. Harlan Ellison once wrote in front of onlookers at an sf convention. This is my equivalent of the same.

Some of you have generously offered to print and put out a few fliers for CC at conventions. We can’t thank you enough. Here’s the link.
It should print fine at “fast draft” quality.
Thanks again!!!

From Jane:
UPDATED DOWNLOAD! I’ve redone the files, especially the pdf. My first book and a series I very much want to complete. For more information on the entire ‘NetWalkers series, check out the ‘NetWalkers page: I offer it for free hoping that you’ll be lured into Stephen’s web and won’t be able to resist buying the rest. Enjoy!

From CJ:
This is an edited-for-legibility version of the online journal I kept for several years. If you want to read the adventures of two writers trying to share a moderately air-conditioned apartment with two worthy cats, through earthquakes, mandatory moves, interesting neighbors and computer adventures, well, this is it.

From Lynn:
A short story that led to the novel of the same name. Fantasy.
