Celtic Faery: not quite Tolkien-esque fantasy
Take my advice. If a black dog or a black horse turns up in your path by night, wiser to turn back, no matter how urgent your journey. Don’t, for the life of you, be walking by the bog alone at midnight. And above all else, if a thing belongs to the elves, no matter how attractive—
Leave it alone!

Faery Moon contains “The Brothers,” a novella, copyright 1986, plus the novel Faery Moon, a new version of the book Faery in Shadow, originally published by Ballantine. The book is heavily revised, with a new copyright. It also has: writing notes; the author’s personal statement on the book; a Gaelic lexicon; a frontispiece sketch by the author; plus a beautiful color cover by Jane Fancher.
The story behind the scenes…
…of Faery in Shadow involves a lightning strike, a change in editors, a lost manuscript, and a short schedule—in short, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong, including no promotion and a host of other problems. When I got the rights back, I decided I wanted to do the book my own way . . . including giving it the cover I always wanted—which Jane was finally able to do for me, brilliantly. As soon as I can reconstitute the original Faery in Shadow, I will offer that early version as a previously-published download, at the 5.00 price.
Jane Fancher’s artwork for this book is available on merchandise in our Cafe Press Store, for tee-shirts, cups, posters, you name it.
