And links have been sent to all those who have purchased the files. There’s been some minor cleanup, but mostly these include improved formatting for TXT, RTF and PDF. We’ve also added full justification. We’re not sure how that’s going to read on the flowable type on small devices, so please let us know what you think.

Oh…and by the time you read this, the “freebie” page s/b set up under the catalog section. That’s where we’ll put free downloads and other free goodies as we think of them.

We keep learning as we go along. There was some annoying hidden code in the scanned material we used for these two books. That has been cleared out, but that’s not all. We’ve reformatted the PDF so the covers “fit” the format and it’s justified on both sides and sized to simulate a HC….Guess that about covers it. Oh…and I took the spaces out of the RTF files.

For those who have already purchased the books, you should have received an email containing new links to the downloads. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I’m hoping the new improved editions will make up for it.

As always, thanks for supporting us!

From CJ Cherryh: Two outstanding novels from the earliest days of her Alliance/Union universe. Includes the birth of the rider ships, Earth politics, and so much more. In  the blurbs, CJ suggests you read Downbelow Station first , but that’s definitely not necessary to thoroughly enjoy the books.  Knowing a bit about her A-U universe, however, will definitely make some of the bits of business that much tastier. (I’d say sweeter, but sweet doesn’t really apply to this series!) Covers designed by CJ and carried to fruition by Jane.

Welcome to Closed Circle

There’s not a lot on the shelves, yet, but enough for a taste of what’s to come.

So c’mon in, grab a glass of bubbly and a cookie

(our personal favorite’s the Russian Tea Cake)

and take a look around.

But while we’ve got you here…

A toast!

To Elaine, for pushing and shoving us into this venture.

To Chip, for suggesting the bookshelves.

To David, for all his art-advice.

And especially to all of those who gave us feedback on the site and the covers…those who scanned (are scanning) files for books whose files we’d lost. For those who’ve printed and passed out fliers. For those who’ve helped us through computer glitches and introduced us to the ins and outs of e-communication. For those who’ve offered moral support. And to those who stood ready to volunteer, or who would have if they’d had access to whatever we needed….

We started trying to make a list of people to thank. Some of you we know by your screennames and sometimes by your name-names, and at first we was going to post the list, and then we thought, no, we’ll leave somebody out by accident, and that’s not right; and then we thought: we’ll e-mail everyone.

And then we tried to put the list together and it kept growing and growing until we were sure it was going to include a sizeable slice of the membership; and we’d still wind up leaving people out, because it’s just such a looooong a list.

So what we propose is this: you have the absolute right to waylay us in the halls at any sf convention, introduce yourselves by the names we know. Then let’s just head for the bar and sit and talk in whatever numbers we can muster, because you’re friends, in our way of thinking, and we want to say a personal thank you to each and every one, for helping us launch this ship.

TFS Closed Circle is away from the dock and outward bound. So raise a glass with us and  thank you, thank you, thank you, friends, one and all.
